Monday, 5 January 2015

Hi everyone!
I hope you have all had a lovely weekend. Is it just me or is the first Monday in January always such a long day?!
Today I decided to take part in 'The New Year Tag'. I have not been tagged by anyone to do this, but I thought it was a really good idea to welcome in the New Year on my blog. This is a great way to reflect on 2014 and set yourself goals and ambitions for the following year ahead.

Thinking back on 2014, I did and achieved so much and the highlights I have from the year are endless. It really was a great year for me. One of my main highlights of the whole year was getting to go Paris and having the chance to spend my 21st birthday at Disneyland. I have dreamed about doing this since I was a little girl and it was everything I imagined and more - it was literally magical. My boyfriend and I stayed for 4 nights in Paris and I had a list as long as my arm of places I wanted to visit and things I wanted to do. We just about managed to get everything done! I have done a post previously on here about everything I got up to there, so if you would like to read that then Click Here. For anybody wanting to go to Paris I definitely recommend it and personally I feel 5 days was a perfect amount of time to spend there!
Another major highlight for me was that 2014 was the year I got up the courage to actually start my own blog, and Not Your Average Bumpkin was created! I had wanted to do this for long but always hesitated as I thought the only people that would want to see what I had to say were my mum and my boyfriend! However, I chose to give it ago anyway and I am so glad I did! I am overwhelmed with the support I have had and I cannot wait to carry on into 2015 and hopefully improve and grow my blog.
Lastly for this question, 2014 was the year I made the extremely hard decision to leave my full time job and go back into education to study for a completely different career path. I knew this would be challenging when it come to finances and being able to afford the finer things, but I knew I was making the right decision. If I didn't do it that year I don't think I ever would of done. I am really proud of myself and over the moon with how well I have succeeded in my health course.

I have got so much to look forward to in 2015 guys! For starters, I finish my college course at the end of January, which I am so excited for, as then I will have a bit of a break until I go on to Uni. During my break from education I am going to continue to work part time, and hopefully volunteer a couple of days a week at my local hospital to help get experience for studying Nursing. That being said leads me onto another thing which I have to look forward to, that is going on to University! I have just sent off my application to my 5 choices and I am currently playing the waiting game - Hopefully someone will want me! It will be such a great experience for me and I cannot wait to extend my knowledge and finally start to pursue a career!
Next, in April I have booked for me and my boyfriend to go to Rome for his 21st birthday. This is a place that he has always wanted to visit and I thought what a perfect time to go! I cannot wait for this trip, I love travelling around different cities and seeing different places. I have also wanted to go to Italy for so long - Mainly for the food!
Lastly, 2015 is going to be my year of focusing a lot more on Not Your Average Bumpkin! Exciting right? I was so busy in 2014 with working and being in college that my blog kind of got pushed to the back of my priorities, but that is all going to change! The blog has already had a complete make over by the amazing people at Pipdig, And now I am making it my aim to be blogging at least once a week - Watch this space!

Every year I make New Years Resolutions and every year I break them - I have no will power at all! So this year I have decided my best bet is to have resolutions which are realistic and I know I want to achieve, rather than the usual 'I will eat healthier' and 'I will go to the gym everyday' - because we all know that lasts for about a week and then you have a secret stash of chocolate and crisps hidden somewhere in the house that no one else can get to! So here goes, my resolutions;
1. Pass My Driving Test
If you have seen my previous post, you will know that for Christmas I got driving lessons of my mum, and this has now given me the motivation that I needed to get behind the wheel! This is my priority this year as I would love to be able to drive and have a car by the time I go to Uni, as it will make it much easier for me to commute!
2. Focus a lot more on my blog
This is the year that I am going to focus on Not Your Average Bumpkin, as I have a few months off from education so I have more time to take pictures and write for you guys! I am super excited about this as blogging is one thing which I get so much enjoyment out of and I love to do!
3. Keep pushing myself for my future
Since being younger I have always had a self confidence issue and I have always suffered from anxiety. This is something that is very hard to live with but I have noticed a huge difference since I started back at college, and I am slowly getting my confidence back. I am starting to believe that I can achieve my goals if I set my mind to it and I am realising that I should not be afraid to try new things. So, this year I am going to keep pushing myself further to make sure I branch out and take every opportunity that life throws at me, rather than avoiding things out of fear.

My blogging high in 2014 was that it was the year my blog actually started! It was something totally out of the blue, I had always wanted to do it but never had the courage! I was sitting on the beach on my holiday in Cape Verde and was just like 'I am going to do it, when I get home I am going to start blogging' and that was it! As soon as I got back I set up a page, thought for HOURS for a name and put some outfits together and just started doing what I had wanted to do for so long. Now I don't know why I didn't start earlier, I love it so much!

If you do not like public affection cover your eyes now...
So, it took me so long to choose my picture of the year as I have so many to pick from after all of things I did last year, but this is the one that puts the biggest smile on my face and gives me some of the best memories that will last a lifetime.
