Hi everyone, welcome back to my blog, I hope you are all doing well!
Today I am feeling super excited for summer -
I am totally ready for sunshine, sun bathing and beach days and ditching the coats, scarves and gloomy duvet days! Who else is with me on this?!

Over the last couple of weeks, I have pulled out my notepad which is full of blog ideas and I have been planning lots of blog posts I can create to get us all in a feel good summer mood! The first post I have decided to do for you all is my personal top 5 favourite summer lipsticks, so get yourself prepared for some bright and fun colours!
I have sorted through my entire lipstick collection for this post and it was so hard to narrow it down to just 5 lipsticks which are perfect for summer - I have far too much choice! All of the lip products I have chosen actually ended up being from high-end brands, so if you would like another one of these posts for drugstore lip products then please let me know in the comments below, and I will sort that out or you!
I have tried to include a variety of different colours, including neons and neutrals and I have also picked some different finishes, from semi-matte to glossy.
All of these colours are going to get so much wear from me over the summer months. Bright lip colours are definitely my favourite to wear, because I feel like they compliment my pale complexion by brightening it up a bit and making me look full of life, rather than looking like casper the ghost!
So, I think I am done rambling for now and if you want to know more about these lip products and why I love them so much, then please keep reading..

Earlier this year, Marc Jacobs created a line of neutral lipsticks with nourishing formulation called the 'New nudes sheer lip creme' lipsticks. The collection includes 7 different shades of nudes including some pink tones and some coral tones. The shade I have is called 'Eat Cake' which is one of the darkest of the new nudes and it is a natural medium rosy pink shade - It is in my opinion the perfect nude shade for summer! If you are going for the 'my lips but better' look, then you will love this lipstick, as it is such a natural colour. The lipstick has a gel formula, so it glides super smoothly onto the lips like butter. From the name of the collection, I was expecting a very sheer colour pay off, yet I was completely surprised at just how pigmented the lipstick actually is. I would say you get a beautiful 80-85% opaque pigmentation on the lips! The more layers you swipe on, the more intense the colour is. Even after multiple swipes, the lipstick does not start to feel heavy on the lips. It is so smoothing and hydrating that it just feels like I have a lip balm on. It makes my lips feel so soft and supple and does not accentuate any dryness, which is a huge bonus.
On the initial application, this lipstick has a slight glossy sheen, which does settle down after a short time on the lips. I would say after about 4 hours wear the colour almost completely fades off to nothing and will need to be reapplied - However, I kind of expect this with any sheer based lipstick. If this short staying power was ever a problem, I would just put on a lip liner underneath that matches the shade, to extend the longevity and I would be good to go!
Overall, I love everything about this lipstick which is why it has made it into my top 5 summer lipsticks category. The colour is beautiful for everyday wear as it is so neutral and goes with any make up look, so I can see myself using this ALOT over these next up and coming months!

Personally, I get so excited when MAC release a new Viva Glam lipstick, and this Miley Cyrus one was no exception. This particular shade is described as a 'Hot Pink' which could not be more accurate - It is a brightened, medium dark fuchsia pink, with subtle cool, blue undertones. If you love to rock a bright lip in summer, then this is the guy for you! This lipstick is an amplified creme finish, so it is super creamy on the lips, insanely pigmented and leaves the lips with a satiny sheen. When I apply it onto my lips it has a near enough full colour coverage, which lasts for a very long time! It feels slightly hydrating and smooth, and does not leave the lips feeling dry at all. When the lipstick starts to fade away, a pinky-red stain is left behind on the lips, which just shows its staying power -it literally lasts for a good 8 hours with high intensity colour! The only downfall I find to having it on for this long is that eventually it can start to feather over the lip line and seep onto the skin, which is super frustrating - however, this can be stopped by using a lip liner underneath.
This has quickly become one of my favourite lipsticks I own, and I think I will get so much wear out of it this summer. I love bright and bold lips, so this may become my go-to shade!

This is a shade that I have lusted over for some time now, because as you guys know, I love me some bright orange lips! For some reason I have just never took the plunge and purchased it. That was until I saw it had been released as part of the MAC limited edition wash and dry collection in this beautiful packaging - This gave me the push I needed, and it was soon in my shopping basket and in my makeup bag! I am so happy it is finally mine - I love it and I cannot stop staring at it. These are the little things that make me happy! The shade is described as a vivid loudmouth orange, and it is definitely not for the colour shy, as it is so full of colour! It is a bold, brightened orange with warm, red undertones. The colour pay off is fully opaque after just one swipe all over the lips. This lipstick has a velvet like feel to it and applies so smoothly. Like viva glam, this one is also an amplified creme finish, meaning it is highly pigmented, super buttery to apply and has a satin, slightly glossy finish. A lot of people I feel would deem this lipstick 'unwearable' just because to look at it, it does look quite scary - it is extremely neon and very out there, so it is not for the faint hearted! I would not by any means wear this as an everyday shade because it is not toned down at all, but if you are feeling daring enough then you rock it girl! To make this one more wearable I find adding a nude shade over the top really helps to reduce the intensity whilst still looking bright and lively! If you would like to try a shade similar to this one, but are not too sure about its boldness, then take a look at MAC's lipstick in the shade 'Costa Chic' - this is my holy grail lip colour and it is a much more muted orange than this one, making it more wearable!
As for longevity, this lipstick does stay in place for a fair amount of time. I would say I can leave it for about 4 to 5 hours before having to touch it up, which I think is quite a good amount of time for a lipstick.
The only problem I have now is that this one is far too pretty to use - I may need to purchase it again in the normal range just to save this one and the unique packaging. Is that a bit extreme? ..Probably!

Now I have another bright pink here for you guys, which in all fairness is very similar to the Viva Glam Miley Cyrus shade, but you can never have too many pinks, right?! I actually like to pair this one with my viva glam lipstick - I will just swipe one coat of this over the top of the lipstick to intensify the vibrance and achieve the perfect summer party pink colour, which honestly just gives me life!
This shade is described as a 'Hot pink' and it is a blindingly bright fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones. It is very neon, very bright, very bold and very fun! I would say the finish of this lipstick is satin, so it has a slight sheen to it, but it does also have the pigmentation and lasting power of a lip stain. It has a full opaque colour coverage which lasts for a good 8 hours, and a stain is left lingering for hours after that. The consistency of this product is typically like that of a liquid lipstick, it is super creamy to apply and does not feel sticky on the lips. It is not drying at all which gets a huge thumbs up from me, because I find this can be a massive problem with liquid lipsticks due to the thickness of them and the fact that most of them are matte finishes. I find often that colours this bright can sometimes be very hard to apply neatly, but the precision tip applicator on this makes it so easy, and the colour just glides on cleanly and evenly, without feathering over the lips. I cannot tell you how much I adore this colour, it is literally summer in a small tube.

So, my 5th and final favourite lipstick is another one from the too faced melted collection - I have got really in to liquid lipsticks this spring - I just seem to gravitate towards them! This one is in the shade Melted Fig and it is so different to any other colour that I own. This shade is described as a purpled pink with neutral to warm undertones - I see it as a sort of muted dark mauve colour! When I first saw the tube I was not sure if I was going to like this one, but I have ended up loving it - It is slightly darker than it shows on the tube! I love that it is a toned down shade, so it is more neutral than neon and can be worn on a daily basis, yet it can still be classed as a bold lip option. Like melted fuchsia, this melted shade is also pigment packed, so one swipe over the lips is enough to offer a fully opaque colour coverage. This colour will last for about 6 to 7 hours before having to be touched up, and again a stain is left behind for hours as well. So, even if you cannot reapply the product throughout the day, a slight bit of colour will still be visible on the lips. I would say this lipstick has a semi-matte finish to it, so it is neither drying nor hydrating on the lips. When completely dried it offers a light glossy finish, so the lips look supple with a slight bit of shine! On days when I want to darken this shade up a bit, I will add a little bit of MAC's lip liner in the shade 'currant' underneath and this just makes the colour that little bit more wearable for everyday in my opinion.
If you want to hear more on what I think about the too faced melted range, then check out my recent blog post on them here where I go into much more in-depth details about them!
And there we have it guys, those are my top 5 lipsticks that I will be rocking this summer! I understand that some of these shades may intimidate some people as they are so neon and so intense, but they can always be toned down, by mixing them with other shades which are lighter. Try it out, experiment with lots of different shades to find out what works best for you and your skin tone. Never be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try something new with your makeup - embrace bright colours rather than fear them because you may end up loving them! Be bold and be beautiful! It is only makeup after all - it all rubs off at the end of the day.

I hope you all really enjoyed this blog post and liked seeing what my favourite summer shades are to make my lips pop! Let me know in the comments down below what your go-to lip shades are for this time of year.
