Out of any other makeup product there is, I would have to say that foundation is definitely one of my absolute favourites to buy..well other than lipsticks of course!
I think this is down to the fact that in my day-to-day makeup routine, I count foundation as being one of the most important steps, for me at least. It is that one product which makes my skin look better, which then in turn, makes everything else look better as well. I know a lot of people think of foundation as a 'cover up' solution to hide any 'problems' on their skin that they are unhappy with, but I personally see it more as a product that brings out the best of your features by enhancing what you already have, along with bringing more self confidence as well - and for that, I am always willing to invest my money and my time in to finding one which is perfect for me, that gives me the desired results I am looking for.
I first started wearing foundation back when I was just 14 years old, and over the years, I have trailed and tested so many different ones, from a variety of different brands - some I really disliked and others I absolutely loved, albeit most of my favourites do come from the more high-end brands, as I find these are the ones that have just worked best for me and my skin.

Makeup Forever HD Foundation || With rumours going around that this is the foundation which Kim Kardashian uses, of course I had to get it for myself, in the hope that my skin will end up looking just as flawless - Damn you Celebrity endorsements! I had heard so much about this foundation when I first started blogging and got introduced to the brand, but unfortunately at that time, Makeup Forever was not available in the UK. So, when I headed off to Rome last year for a little Easter break, Sephora was first on my list of sights to see..I was like a crazy lady on the hunt for a Makeup Forever counter! As soon as I found the foundation, I got colour matched and I immediately purchased it. The first time I tried it out I fell in love instantly, and I completely realised why SO many people recommended this foundation - it really is incredible! It is definitely a full coverage foundation, and it just seems to smooth out the skin to make it appear absolutely flawless, whilst still looking natural as well. I would say the HD foundation has quite a matte finish to it, however considering it is so full coverage and matte as well, it still feels lightweight and hydrating on the skin. Thankfully, late last year Makeup Forever became available from Debenhams, which is like music to the ears of all beauty enthusiasts! Since then Makeup Forever have also come out with a newer version of this foundation, known as the Ultra HD foundation, (I believe this original one has now been discontinued), and I cannot wait to get my hands on that one as well!

Nars All-Day Luminous Weightless Foundation || The one pump wonder..When I heard that Nars were releasing a foundation that offers a full coverage finish all over the face in just one pump, I was intrigued, and I had to see if what they were claiming was true..Honestly, I was shocked to find out that it actually was. I could never imagine just using one small pump of foundation, all over my face and getting an amazing coverage, but by some miracle, this foundation does it. It has quite a runny consistency which is so super pigmented, that the smallest amount will just blend out beautifully all over the face, whilst covering up any imperfections. Even though the coverage is insane, it is still a buildable foundation..I have tried it out with three pumps in the past and it still looked really lovely and felt really weightless on the skin as well - However, I have heard some people claim that it can end up looking cakey if you apply too much, as it has been designed to just need one pump of product.

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation || One of my more recent foundations that I have tried out, but despite only using it a handful of times, it has quickly become one of my favourites..I would even go as far as saying it is well on the way to outdoing my holy grail foundation! Born This Way has a great medium-buildable coverage, which feels featherlight and looks really natural on the skin. The overfall finish that this foundation gives I would describe as a demi-matte..So, it appears neither too matte or too dewy, it just gives that desired 'glowing from within' look, which is absolutely beautiful. If you have not managed to get your hands on this foundation yet, then I recommend it SO much..it has the ability to make non-flawless skin look flawless, and it even has skin benefits in it as well! You can find my full review on the Born This Way foundation here, to find out more in depth detail on all of the reasons why I adore it so much.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation || Possibly one of the most talked about foundations in the Blogging and Youtube community, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk is definitely a firm favourite in the beauty world. I personally find it extremely easy to get influenced by fellow bloggers, as I really value their opinions, so as soon as I started to see everybody singing the praises of this foundation, I just had to get my hands in it. After trialling it out for a couple of weeks, I understood why people regarded this foundation so highly, and I completely justified the price tag that comes along with it..it really is incredible. It offers great coverage without feeling heavy on the skin, and it also provides a lovely healthy glow to the skin without making you look overly dewy. If I ever have a special event, like a wedding or a party to attend to, where I know there is going to be a lot of 'picture moments', I always opt for the Luminous Silk foundation as it contains no SPF, so it will not cause any flashback in flash photography..Perfect for all those selfies! This one really is just a beautiful foundation that I would recommend to everybody. You can read my full review on this one here.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation || My holy grail foundation for the last couple of years, and it is still going strong. Every new foundation that I now try gets compared to this one, and whilst some are close to being just as good as this one, none seem to knock Doublewear out of the top spot for me..It is the foundation that I go back to every single time because I know it never lets me down. It is super long wearing, it offers an incredible coverage, and it just makes the skin look absolutely flawless. The only issue I do find with this foundation, is that it can dry my skin out if I use it too often as it is very heavy duty..So, I try to save this one now just for special occasions or nights out, when I know I need a foundation that is going to last a really long time on the skin, and stay looking immaculate.

The main characteristics I look for in a foundation are something that is long wearing and offers a good medium-full coverage, which does not feel too heavy or drying on the skin..These five check all of the boxes for exactly what I am looking for, and that is why they are all essential in my foundation collection. If you are on the hunt for a new foundation or you are just a foundation lover in general and you have not tried any of these, make sure you get them on your wishlist of ones to try..Trust me, you will not regret it!
What is your favourite foundation? Do you look for any specific features?
