MY TRAVEL MAKE-UP BAG || ESSENTIALS FOR A WEEKEND GETAWAY

Whenever I book to go on a weekend away somewhere, wether it is a city break or a short holiday, one of the first things I think about is what essentials I need to take with me.
I get so excited about going on my travels, that I immediately start to write different lists for the different things I need, so I know I am prepared and I know I will not forget to pack anything..even if the trip is months away, I like to be organised (Yes, crazy!).
In a couple of weeks time, I am heading South to the beautiful city of London for my partners birthday, and I can hardly wait! London is one of my favourite cities in the world, and any time I get the opportunity to go there, I jump at it! I began gathering my lists of thing I need together a few weeks back, and yes, I have already started to pull together my travel makeup bag. Choosing just a small handful of makeup products to go away with can be quite a daunting task sometimes, as there is always that worry of 'ooh, what if I get there and I need something else?', so this is the one thing that I like to get sorted in advance, to save any un wanted stress. Typically I am that person that will completely over pack, and just keep adding things to my case that really are unnecessary and will not get used the whole time I am away..Guilty! However, for this trip to London, I have decided to do it differently and I have spent the time to strategically pick out products to take along with me, that I know I will use everyday, and that will be essential to me in my daily makeup routine.

Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow || If you saw my recent top 5 primer post, then you will know that Wonder Glow by Charlotte Tilbury is one of my all time favourite primers. It is a soft-focus filter that blurs imperfections to leave the skin looking completely flawless and naturally radiant. It is the perfect priming product for everyday, as it does absolutely everything..it increases makeup longevity, it blurs, it hydrates, it adds a stunning golden glow to the skin and it also offers a smooth base for makeup application. Being such a versatile product that has multiple advantages, I like to have a tube of Wonder Glow with me wherever I go. For that reason, as well as having this primer in the standard size tube, I also purchased it in a travel size tube too..Anytime I go on my travels, you can guarantee that this will be found in my makeup bag!

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation || When I go away for a couple of days I only like to take one foundation with me, so I always choose the one which I know will never let me down. Double Wear from Estee Lauder is a holy grail product of mine..it is super long wearing, it has a lovely coverage and it just makes the skin look absolutely flawless. It is perfect for day time or night time, which makes it the perfect choice of foundation to bring away in my travel makeup bag!

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer || Whenever I am staying away for a couple of days in a different city, I sleep very little..I like to cram as much as I can into the few days that I am there, and I feel like if I am sleeping, I am missing out on something that the city has to offer..Anybody else feel this way?! With that being said, I need a good concealer that is going to cover and brighten those horrific, dark undereye circles that I will inevitably end up suffering from..And, the Naked Skin concealer from Urban Decay is definitely the right guy for the job! I love this concealer so much, it is my holy grail, and I very rarely use anything else now, because this one just works wonders.

Clinique Chubby Stick || Contouring is something which seems to of slowly wormed its way into my daily makeup routine now, and if I ever miss this step out, my makeup just does not feel completed (and my cheeks still feel hamster like). I definitely prefer to cream contour, rather than powder contour as I think it gives a much more natural finish, and one of my favourite products to use for this is the sculpting contour chubby stick from Clinque. It is easy to apply, easy to blend and it is a great shade for sculpting and carving out the cheekbones to create a natural looking shadow. Also, it comes packaged in a nice small tube, which is so handy to keep tucked away in my travel makeup bag.

MAC Sculpt and Shape Powder || After using cream products to highlight and contour with, it is important to use 'matching' powders over the top, to make sure that those creams are set in place and last all day long. This sculpting compact from M.A.C Cosmetics is a recent one in my collection, and it is perfect for travelling as it has a highlighting powder and a contouring powder in one small compact. Emphasize is the lighter shade in the duo and this is the powder I like to use to set my undereye concealer and any other areas I have highlighted in place, because it is a great brightening powder that really lifts and awakens those dull areas. The deeper shade powder in the compact is called Bone Beige, and this one makes for a great contour powder for my skin tone.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit || A nice face palette is a necessity for me when it comes to travelling, and this one from Hourglass makes for the perfect travel companion. Despite how it looks on the pictures, this compact is actually very small, so it is easy to store in my case, and it is lightweight to carry with me to. Inside the palette there are six of the Ambient lighting powders from the Hourglass range, three of which (on the top row) can be used as face setting powders, and then there is also two blushes and one bronzer as well. I love all of these powders because they look so natural and really beautiful on the skin. Also, this gigantic mirror that comes with it is definitely a bonus for travelling!

Too Faced 'Paris Au Naturale' Palette || For weekends away or holidays it is always an essential of mine to bring with me an eye and cheek palette..Not only does it mean you have a variety of products to choose from, but also everything is stored together so compact in one palette that it does not take up too much room in your case..Perfect for travelling! The palette that I am taking with me to London is the 'Paris Au Naturale' palette from Too Faced, which was a part of their 2015 Holidays collection. I decided to bring this one along with me because it is very small and slender, it has a great selection of neutral eyeshadows which can be used to create a great variety of eye looks to take you from day to night, and it also includes a very natural coral-peach blush, which is very pretty and will compliment a variety of different makeup looks.

Charlotte Tilbury Feline Flick Shodo Pen || I do not like to spend a lot of time cooped up in my hotel room doing my makeup when I am away, (I would much rather be out exploring the city) so I need products with me which will make the hardest steps in my makeup routine that little bit easier and that little bit quicker. Winged eyeliner is one of the biggest struggles I face on a day-to-day basis, and I am far from an expert..that is where the Feline Flick pen from Charlotte Tilbury comes to my rescue! As this is literally like a felt tip pen, you have so much control over it and it makes mastering the art of winged liner that slight bit more hopeful!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara || As someone who very rarely wears false eyelashes, a good mascara is essential for me, and one of my favourites at the moment is the cult classic, Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. I have heard so many incredible things about this product, and rightly so..It separates, it curls, it lengthens and it adds plenty of volume..what else do I need in a mascara?

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer || On a daily basis I tend to use my Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade, however I have decided that for this trip away I am only going to take with me the new Brow Definer, also from Anastasia Beverly Hills. This is a fairly recent purchase of mine, but since I have had it, I've really enjoyed using it as it helps to achieve a more natural looking brow.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel || ..And then to keep my eyebrows in place all day and make sure that I get no stray hairs, I am of course taking my holy grail Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel. This product is literally like gorilla glue for your brows..Once one thin layer has been applied, your brows aren't moving anywhere!

MAC Soar Lipliner || I try not to take too many lip options with me when I go away, as I would probably need a separate bag to carry them all in. So, I have decided that a nude lip is the way to go for this trip to London! I am sticking to just two of my favourite products for this, both of which are perfect for day and night, and will suit every possible makeup look. The first product is a lip liner and I have chosen Soar from M.A.C Cosmetics (being very adventurous). This is the perfect pink toned nude and it pairs perfectly with the lipstick I have chosen..

MAC Velvet Teddy lipstick || Yes, I am being very generic, and I will be taking M.A.C Cosmetic's Velvet Teddy lipstick to wear over the top of Soar. Velvet Teddy is my favourite nude lipstick of all time..it suits my skin tone really well, it is a matte finish so it is extremely long wearing and it just looks absolutely beautiful paired over the top of soar. You cannot go wrong with a classic nude lip, right? ..And I know that this combination is perfect for a weekend in the city!

MAC Fix + Spray || While it may not be as essential as some of my other products, MAC Fix + is something that I love to bring with me, as it is a great multi-functional product (You can read my full list of uses that it has here). I mainly like to use this product as the last finishing touch in my routine, when all of my makeup has been completed as it soaks up any excess powders on the skin, and it just brings everything together to makes the finished makeup look appear much more seamless.

It can sometimes be a very hard task to narrow down my makeup collection and decided what are the best products to take away with me, however for this trip, I believe I have chosen very wisely and I am happy with everything I have packed (at least for now!)
What do you keep with you in your travel makeup bag? Do you have any essentials?
